Molina, Giulia Silveira; Andersen, Nils; Pena, Leopoldo D; Ogretmen, Nazik; Voelker, Antje H L: Multi-proxy record of upper Mediterranean Outflow Water oxygenation variability during the Early to Middle Pleistocene (Marine Isotope Stages 17 to 32, and MIS 51) of IODP Site U1387, Gulf of Cadiz [dataset bundled publication]. Abstract:
This dataset compiles several bottom-water proxies from IODP Site U1387 (36°48.32′N, 07°43.13′W; 559 m water depth), on the middle slope of the Faro Drift in the Gulf of Cadiz, covering Marine Isotope Stages (MIS) 17 to 32, plus MIS 51, during the Early to Middle Pleistocene. It includes benthic foraminiferal relative abundances with the derived Enhanced Benthic Foraminiferal Oxygen Index (EBFOI) and dissolved oxygen, benthic stable carbon (δ¹³C) and oxygen (δ¹⁸O) isotopes with reconstructed bottom-water oxygen, the carbon-isotope offset between the two Globobulimina species, uranium/manganese (U/Mn) ratios on planktic foraminifera, and neodymium isotope compositions (εNd). The records were generated to reconstruct the oxygenation of the upper Mediterranean Outflow Water, to track its strength at the seafloor, and to identify the water mass bathing the site.
