Abstract:
Bulk-rock mineral abundances and carbonate contents were determined for marlstone samples from the Alano di Piave section (45.9138889° N, 11.9152778° E), northeastern Italy. Samples were collected during May–June 2024 from a stratigraphic interval spanning pre-Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO), MECO, and post-MECO deposits. The dataset was generated to quantify changes in carbonate, clay-mineral, quartz–feldspar, and accessory-mineral abundances and to evaluate detrital sediment delivery and carbonate dilution across the event. Powder X-ray diffraction data were acquired using a Bruker D8 Advance DaVinci diffractometer with Cu Kα radiation and a LynxEye XE-T detector. Mineral phases were quantified by full-pattern Rietveld refinement using Profex v5.0.2. Abundances are reported as weight percentages normalized to the sum of the identified crystalline phases; no internal standard was used to quantify amorphous material. Sample identifiers, stratigraphic depths, individual mineral abundances, calcite plus dolomite, and carbonate-content values are included.
