Abstract:
The data were derived from uncrewed aerial vehicle images (UAV, DJI Phantom Pro P4 Multispectral, with DJI RTK base station for positioning). Our data were acquired at a thermo-erosional gully site (CSP-F) on the central Seward Peninsula in Northwestern Alaska. The gully CSP-F is connected to a thermokarst pond basin, which drained around 20 years ago. We visited the site on 09.09.2023 for UAV acquisition. The DSM and orthomosaic were derived from the densely overlapping visible-spectrum UAV imagery using photogrammetric software (Agisoft metashape) for structure-from-motion (SfM) image processing. They were then finely co-registered using AROSICS (Scheffler et al. 2017) and xDEM (xDEM contributors 2024). The data provided here was part of a several year revisit campaign to monitor rapid permafrost degradation and related thaw processes.
