Abstract:
In preparation for the deep drilling of the Beyond Epica Oldest Ice deep ice core, surface cores were drilled at Little Dome C drilling site to characterise how the climate signal is recorded in the firn. The ICORDA-LDC firn core (75°17.586 S, 122°24.808 E) was drilled in January 2023. We present the isotopic profile of the water from the core. The measurements from the first 3 metres of the core were taken using discrete sampling, whilst the measurements from the following 81 metres were obtained using continuous flow analysis. The measurements were carried out in 2024 at the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences (Saclay, France).
