Abstract:
The dataset contains measurements of snow barchans height [m], width [m] and windward length [m], located approximately 800 m from Concordia Station, East Antarctica. Heights were obtained either from in situ photographs with direct measurements using a graduated metal plate to extract dune profiles, or from near-infrared images acquired by a camera mounted on a tower approximately 20 m above the surface, using shadows to estimate dune height. Widths and windward lengths were measured from the same sources. The observations were collected as part of a long-term study of snow surface evolution aimed at quantifying the role of snow in Antarctic climate. Measurements were performed primarily during the summer months (August–March), when sufficient daylight allowed observations.
The primary purpose of this dataset is to provide standardized quantitative descriptors of snow barchan migration and geometry for use in studies of surface processes, wind-driven sediment transport, and landscape evolution in polar environments.

Comment:
This dataset has been carefully reviewed and curated in accordance with PANGAEA's exceptionally high quality standards. However, due to discontinued communication from the authors' side, it did not receive the usual formal approval by the authors and therefore lacks final scientific validation.
