Abstract:
This dataset bundle contains planktonic foraminifera carbonate clumped isotope, stable oxygen and carbon isotope, as well as bulk sediment GDGT and alkenone data from IODP Expedition 342 Sites U1405, U1406, U1407, U1409, and U1410 in the Northwest Atlantic. The sites from the Newfoundland Ridge (U1407, U1409, and U1410) and J-Anomaly Ridge (U1405 and U1406) were used to create a nearly continuous, low-resolution (˜920 kyr/sample) splice covering the Cenozoic and reconstruct carbonate clumped isotope, TEX86 and UK'37 sea surface temperatures. Each sample consists of 20 ccm of sediment covering a 2 cm core depth interval. Age models are generally based on detailed shipboard bio-magneto-stratigraphies (Norris et al., 2014). However, for the segment from 40.8 Ma to 44.8 Ma with samples of site U1410 the updated age model of Cappelli et al. (2019) was applied by correlating it to the age model of site U1408.
