Abstract:
Sediment samples for grain-size analyses were obtained from cores GeoB13821-2, GeoB13823-2, GeoB13824-1, GeoB13832-2 and GeoB13861-1 that were collected with a gravity corer during cruise M78/3 onboard the R/V METEOR in 2009 in the Mar del Plata Canyon, offshore Argentina (SW Atlantic Ocean). Grain-size measurements were performed on bulk sediments with a Beckman Coulter Laser diffraction particle size analyzer LS 13 320 at MARUM laboratories (University of Bremen). Sediment samples were pre-treated with a dispersing agent (tetra sodium pyrophosphate) while boiling for a few minutes to disaggregate flocked particles.
