Abstract:
This dataset contains distributed ground surface temperature data collected between August 2024 and August 2025. Temperature was measured using iButton sensors installed at three legacy waste sites (drilling mud sumps), Tuktuk A-12, Kamik F-38, and Parsons E-02, located along the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway in the Mackenzie River Delta area, Northwest Territories, Canada. The iButtons were installed across three landscape zones at each site: the sump cap, rim, and surrounding tundra, with a total of 40 iButtons installed. The measurements were conducted as part of a larger field effort to investigate the thermal state of permafrost within drilling mud sumps using geophysical and environmental monitoring techniques.
