Abstract:
This dataset contains data obtained from piston core FC24-1-DD07, recovered from Tuktoyaktuk Harbor during the *Fluxes from Land to Ocean: How Coastal Habitats in the Arctic Respond* (FLO CHAR) 2024 spring expedition (CA-Land_2024_FLOCHAR_spring). Tuktoyaktuk Harbor is a back-barrier lagoon bordering Kugmallit Bay on the Canadian Beaufort Sea coast. It is fed by the East Channel, a distributary of the Mackenzie River, and therefore archives sediment delivered by both fluvial and marine processes. The data was used to investigate paleoenvironmental change and landscape development in a nearshore, permafrost-rich setting along the coastal Beaufort Sea. The 9 m sediment core was recovered using a UWITEC piston corer on 18 April 2024, in 11.2 m water depth, and spans the last 10 kyr. Downcore physical properties, including bulk density, magnetic susceptibility, and P-wave velocity, were measured using a Geotek Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL). This work is part of the BNP-Paribas funded project: "Fluxes from Land to Ocean: How Coastal Habitats in the Arctic Respond" (FLO CHAR) ( www.awi.de/en/science/geosciences/permafrost-research/projects/flo-char.html). MO, BM and KS were funded by the Swedish Research Council (DNR 2023-06920) and FORMAS (DNR 2023-01384).
