Abstract:
This dataset consists of nine data tables and is part of the DFG SPP 527 Infrastructure area - International Ocean Drilling Programme³ (IODP³) project Exp392EventStratigraphy: high resolution bulk stable carbon isotope stratigraphy of major Paleogene events drilled during IODP Expedition 392 on Agulhas Plateau. The reported data enable a clear identification and geochemical characterization of the recovered Paleocene Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) record, set a new global standard for correlation.
This table provides correlation tie points to map core intervals that are outside of the defined composite to the composite. The column Depth comp [mcd] is the composite depth after applying the offsets given in the offsets table for a given point in a core. The column Depth comp [mcd] (CCSF distorted core section) is the point in the defined composite on composite depth that this point is correlated to, and thus should have the same depth. After applying the mapping pairs to the composite depth of each core, all parts of the cores are adjusted to the composite depth of the defined composite. This is needed to compensate for drilling induced disturbances and assure samples to be taken from exactly same stratigraphic horizon in parallel drilled holes.
