Abstract:
Oceanographic data recording related to microbial induced corrosion experiments was conducted by CTD-sensor measurements inside a monopile structure located in the German North Sea (i.e. FINO3; Skottke et al. 2023). Water column parameters were determined during 3 visits of the FINO3 platform between 05.10.2023 and 10.10.2024 to constrain physical and chemical conditions during long-term corrosion experiments at the inner steel wall of the monopile. Strong seasonal vertical stratification inside the monopile was recorded in summer months, which was accompanied by anoxia and hydrogen sulfide accumulation (Adam-Beyer, submitted).
In situ measurements of oceanographic data and water chemistry were performed using profiling memory probes, equipped with temperature and pressure sensors (CTD48, Sea&Sun Technology, Trappenkamp, Germany), plus H2S and pH, or oxygen and salinity sensors (Analysenmesstechnik GmbH, Rostock, Germany).
