Abstract:
This dataset contains planktonic foraminiferal census data from ODP Site 108-659, located on the Cabo Verde Plateau in the eastern North Atlantic Ocean (18°05'N, 21°02'W; 3070 m water depth). The record spans Marine Isotope Stages 36 to 42 during the Early Pleistocene. Planktonic foraminifera were identified and counted in the >150 μm size fraction, including the 150–250 μm fraction when applicable. Taxonomic identification follows the concepts of Schiebel and Hemleben (2017) and the Mikrotax database (Young et al., 2017). The dataset includes raw species counts together with relative abundances (%) calculated from the total assemblage. Sample ages were established through correlation of the benthic δ¹⁸O record to the LR04 benthic isotope stack. The resulting record documents the composition of planktonic foraminiferal assemblages at ODP Site 108-659 across glacial and interglacial intervals of the Early Pleistocene.
