Abstract:
This dataset presents a detailed inventory of event layers identified in the ICDP 5017-1 sediment core from the central Dead Sea, covering the past ~2000 years. It provides the depth (top and bottom in core), thickness, age, and event deposit type (Turbidite, Homogeneous mud, Slump layer, Deformed layer) for each event layer. Critically, it includes the specific historical earthquake year proposed for correlation, or notes where no reliable correlation exists. This foundational dataset serves as the primary archive of paleoseismic events and is essential for subsequent analyses linking sedimentary records to seismic forcing and environmental preconditioning factors.
