Abstract:
This dataset contains temperature, salinity, fluorescence, and dissolved oxygen measurements collected from 2020 to 2024 in the Northern Antarctic Peninsula and vicinity, between 60 and 65 degrees of south latitude. During this period, a total of three cruises were carried out in the area by the High Latitude Oceanography Group (GOAL-FURG). The PROVOCCAR (Ocean Ventilation and Carbon Cycle Processes in the Northern Antarctic Peninsula) project aims to monitor seawater physicochemical parameters and to continuously and/or discretely measure carbonate system parameters related to ocean carbon chemistry. This monitoring aims to contribute to the understanding of the variability and dynamics of ocean circulation and carbon cycling in the areas surrounding the Antarctic Peninsula, within the context of climate change. Salinity and temperature were measured using CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth), and fluorescence and dissolved oxygen were obtained using auxiliary sensors installed in the CTD. ISSUES: * Bad quality data was kept within the dataset and is properly marked with the respective quality flags. * The 'oxygen to be used' is a combination of all good quality data from the oxygen sensors in reference to sensor 1, i.e., in the 'oxygen to be used' column, bad data presented in sensor 1 is replaced by good quality data from sensor 2.
