Abstract:
Processed Sub-bottom profiler (SBP) seismic reflection data in SEG-Y format. ATLAS Parasound P70 sediment echo-sounding system was used to record secondary low frequencies (SLF) between 0.5 – 6 kHz where the SLF is of particular interest for sediment penetration during the cruise M196 in the Gulf of Corinth. Data storage was set to record position as Lat/Lon (ArcSec) and Envelope mode throughout the acquisition, except for survey lines P600/P6001 and P700 which were stored in Carrier Frequency mode. All data was recorded in PS32 and SEG-Y formats in the acquisition system. The system converted SEG-Y files were merged into their respective survey profiles using geological interpretation software Seaview, however during conversions, artificial errors were created in time delay, which could not be aligned automatically during data import to the analysis software Kingdom. The major errors in time delays were corrected within the segy headers with a code. There are still minor artificial delays which may not be aligned automatically during data import and which could be corrected manually within the headers (they were not corrected due to time constraints). The coordinates of the data in Arcsecond were also converted to the UTM coordinates in m. For more information, see the cruise report (Jegen et al., 2024).
