Abstract:
This dataset presents isothermal remanent magnetization (IRM) measurements from Plio–Pleistocene sediments recovered at IODP Site U1463C on the Northwest Shelf of Australia during Expedition 356. IRM was imparted using a maximum field of 1 T, and hard IRM (HIRM) and S-ratios were calculated using backfields of 0.3 T and 0.1/0.3 T, respectively. These parameters allow for estimates on total and relative abundance of hard magnetic phases (e.g., hematite and goethite) in samples. Measurements were performed on discrete 8 cm³ paleomagnetic cube samples, with depth and age information included.
