Abstract:
This dataset comprises fatty acid concentrations, compound-specific stable carbon isotopes (δ13C) of fatty acids, bulk mineralogical data from X-ray diffraction (XRD), total organic carbon (TOC) and total sulfur (TS), as well as porewater geochemistry from shallow-water hydrothermal sediments off Milos, Greece. Samples include background sediments and sediments collected in close proximity to hydrothermal vents, retrieved during research cruise M192 (August 2023) on FS METEOR. Porewater measurements include redox potential (Eh), pH, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), stable carbon isotopes of DIC (δ13C-DIC), and major and trace elements (Cl-, Br-, SO42-, Al, Fe, Si, Ca). Fatty acid δ13C values were corrected for methylation.
