Abstract:
The age-depth models and carbon (‰ vs. VPDB), nitrogen (‰ vs. AIR) stable isotopes, carbon% and nitrogen % of stomach oil deposits WMM3.1 and WMM3.2 are presented. The deposits were collected from nunataks at Untersee Oasis (71°21.6'S/13°18.96'E), Dronning Maud Land Antarctica, with the GeoMaud Expedition (1995/1996). The study aimed to investigate the geochemical changes occurring within the marginal summer sea-ice zone over the last glacial-interglacial transition. The data presented here are age-depth models generated using 12 14C-samples for WMM3.1, and 8 14C-samples for WMM3.2. All the radiocarbon samples were measures at the CHRONO Lab, Queen Mary University (Belfast, UK). The age-depth model is constructed using the rpackage bacon and reservoir ages spanning 670 yrs (Holocene), 1320 yrs (deglaciation and pre-LGM) and 1760 yrs (LGM) after the recommendations of Heaton et al., (2023, doi:10.1017/RDC.2023.42). The carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes were analysed on the same sample (0.8-1.5mg), using a Costech elemental analyser (ECS 4010) connected to a Thermo Scientific Delta V Advantage isotope ratio mass spectrometer at the Stable Isotope Biochemistry Lab at the Department of Earth Sciences, Durham University (Durham, U.K). In-house and international standards provided an isotopic accuracy of 0.1%.
