Abstract:
This dataset contains temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and fluorescence profiles collected in the shelf-break region of the South Brazil Bight (SBB) and Southern Brazilian Shelf (SBS) between 23 to 33 of south latitude in October 2014. These measurements were made during the EstARte cruise carried out by the Brazilian Ocean Acidification Network (BrOA) and High Latitude Oceanography Group (GOAL_FURG) onboard the NHOc Cruzeiro do Sul. The EstARte project aims to obtain physical and biogeochemical processes controlling carbon exchanges at the air-sea interface and ocean acidification in the South Atlantic continental shelf and slope. Salinity and temperature were measured using CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth), and fluorescence and dissolved oxygen were obtained using auxiliary sensors installed in the CTD.

Comment:
Method/device details: This archived dataset contains temperature (T), salinity (S), dissolved oxygen (DO), and fluorescence (F). Temperature and salinity were obtained using CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth) attached to a rosette. The Rosette/CTD was deployed with two installed sensors for T and S, one for DO, and one for F. DO measurements from the sensor were corrected using DO samples obtained with the Winkler method (Winkler (1888, doi:10.1002/cber.188802102122), following Hansen, H.P. in: Grasshoff et al (1999, doi:10.1002/9783527613984.ch4)). No correction was applied to the fluorometer data.
Method/device used: Sea-Bird Electronics SBE-911 plus (12 bottle Niskin rosette); SBE 43 Dissolved Oxygen Sensor; WET Labs ECO-AFL/FL fluorometer; Hansen, H.P. (1999). Determination of oxygen. In Methods of Seawater Analysis (eds K. Grasshoff et al. (1999), doi:10.1002/9783527613984.ch4)).
