Abstract:
Glacier calving front positions have been derived by applying a deep learning method to multispectral Landsat-8 and Landsat-9 imagery. The record contains 4817 calving front positions across 42 outlet glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula from October 2013 to April 2023. Due to the high temporal resolution of this data product it provides unique opportunities to study seasonal and sub-seasonal terminus changes. Calving front locations are important for (1) studying and understanding ice-ocean interaction; (2) mapping glacier area change; and (3) constraining ice dynamic
models. The following glaciers are included in this data record: Akaga-Sinion Glacier system, Avsyuk Glacier, Birley Glacier, Bleriot Glacier, Boydell Glacier, Cadman Glacier, Carlson Glacier, Cayley Glacier, Clarke Glacier, Crane Glacier, Darvari-Boryana-Desudava Glacier system, Dinsmore-Bombardier-Edgeworth Glacier system, Drygalski Glacier, Drummond Glacier, Erskine Glacier, Fleming Glacier, Funk Glacier, Hariot Glacier, Heim Glacier, Hektoria-Green-Evans Glacier system, Hopkins Glacier, Hugi Glacier, Jorum Glacier, Keith Glacier, Malorad Glacier, McCance Glacier, Murphy Wilkinson Glacier, Otlet Glacier, Peter Glacier, Prospect Glacier, Punchbowl Glacier, Pyke Glacier, Remus-Snowshoe Glacier, Renard-Krebs Glacier, Sjogren Glacier, Stringfellow Glacier, Swithinbank Glacier, Temple Glacier, Trooz Glacier, Valot Glacier, Widdowson Glacier and Zaychar Glacier.
