Abstract:
Glacier calving front positions have been derived by applying a deep learning method to multispectral Landsat-8 and Landsat-9 imagery. The record contains 2604 calving front positions across 19 outlet glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula from Oktober 2013 to April 2023. Due to the high temporal resolution of this data product it provides unique opportunities to study seasonal and sub-seasonal terminus changes. Calving front locations are important for (1) studying and understanding ice-ocean interaction; (2) mapping glacier area change; and (3) constraining ice dynamic models. The following glaciers are included in this data record: Birley Glacier, Bleriot Glacier, Cayley Glacier, Crane Glacier, Dinsmore-Bombardier-Edgeworth Glacier system, Drygalski Glacier, Fleming Glacier, Hariot Glacier, Hektoria-Green-Evans Glacier system, Hugi Glacier, Jorum Glacier, Punchbowl Glacier, Murphy Wilkinson Glacier, Prospect Glacier, Sjogren Glacier, Boydell Glacier, Stringfellow Glacier, Trooz Glacier and Widdowson Glacier.
