Abstract:
This dataset includes major and rare earth element contents of sediments from the northeastern Pacific, with relevant sampling information. The aim of the study is to ascertain the distribution of REY in different mineral phases. 7 sediment cores were collected from the Korean license area for polymetallic nodule exploration in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone using a multiple corer on the R/V Onnuri during the KODOS13-02 cruise (2013-07-20 - 2013-08-15; Chief Scientist: Kyeong Hong Kim) and the KODOS14-02 cruise (2014-08-12 - 2014-09-07; Chief Scientist: Kyeong Hong Kim). Subsamples were taken at 1 cm intervals from the split cores. The bulk elemental composition of selected samples was determined using an ICP-MS following conventional acid digestion.
