Abstract:
Current mean January and mean winter temperatures near the places of determination of the isotopic composition of ice wedge veinlets in the north of the permafrost zone of Russia from 1930 to 2019 are presented. The meteorological observations over the past 80 years and the δ¹⁸О values in ice wedges for each region of the permafrost zone were analyzed in order to identify the most obvious and stable dependence of the isotopic composition and winter temperature. The correlation of the isotopic composition of ice wedges and the temperature of the cold period allows to create more detailed quantitative paleoreconstructions of climate change within the modern permafrost zone of Siberia.
