Preservation: P = poor (specimens severly etched/overgrown, primary features destroyed, fragmented, hard to ID to species and/or genus level) and M = moderate (specimens exhibit some etching/recrystallization but identifiable to species level)
Total calcareous nannofossil abundance in the sediment: A = abundant (>50-90% of sediment particles)
Abundance of individual calcareous nannofossil taxa used in this study: R= rare (< 1 specimen per 10 fields of view, FOV); F = few (1 specimen per 1-10 FOV); C = common (>1-10 specimens per FOV); A = abundant (>10-100 specimens per FOV and D = dominant (>100 specimens per FOV). For study specific abundance definitions from previously published work see Bralower and Mutterlose (1995).
