NMK_I (Lough Namackanbeg) * Latitude: 53.285220 * Longitude: -9.300610 * Date/Time: 1984-05-28T00:00:00 * Elevation: 87.0 m * Penetration: 8.4 m * Method/Device: Livingstone corer (LIVC) * Comment: Comment: Lake size 180 m x 80 m, lake area 1.2 ha. Lake has largely filled-in since early 20C; now a Schwingmoor; there are effectively 2 small basins; core taken in larger northern basin. Cored from a platform supported by sedge-rich vegetation where probing revealed the thickest sediments. Coring location close to where Late-glacial cores (NMK II) were subsequently taken.
Comment:
Base of profile 6.85 m, this is close to Late-glacial/Holocene transition )LG/Holocene: 11.65 ka BP, 6.9 m).
