Comment:
Sediment depth is given in mbsf. Wet-bulk density, porosity, and water content are from Site 532 chapter, this volume. Bulk-sediment MAR = [(1 - poros./100) x 2.7] x 100 x (sed. rate). MAR's for CaCO3, Corg, and biogenic SiO2 = bulk-sediment MAR x (%/100) of CaCO3, Corg, and biogenic SiO2, respectively. Percent biogenic SiO2 for each 0.5-m.y. interval were obtained from Dean and Parduhn, 1984 (doi:10.2973/dsdp.proc.75.127.1984). MAR clay is the difference between bulk-sed. MAR and the sum of MAR's for CaCO3, Corg, and biogenic SiO2.
