1765-01-09T00:00: SE(...)HALLARON 58 BRAZAS Y DESPUÉS ENTREGANDO LA GUARDIA AL 2º PILOTO CON ORDEN DE SONDAR DE 2 EN 2 HORAS, SE FUE A DORMIR: ESTE SIN HABER VERIFICADO LA ORDEN, DADAS LAS 12, DEJANDO LA GUARDIA AL CONTRAMAESTRE Y AL PILOTÍN HIZO LO MISMO. EL CAPITÁN EN LUGAR DE LEVANTARSE A LA GUARDIA DE LAS 12, NO SE RECORDÓ HASTA LA 1 1/2 QUE LE LLAMÓ EL PILOTÍN Y (LE DIJERON QUE EL 2º PILOTO NO HABÍA SONDADO. EN LUGAR DE SONDAR INMEDIATAMENTE Y CREYENDO VER SOMBRA DE TIERRA, MANDO ARRIBAR. POCO DESPUÉS ESTABA VARADO EL BARCO. TANTO EL CAPITÁN COMO EL SEGUNDO PILOTO ESTABAN CONFUSOS Y NO SABÍAN QUÉ TIERRA ERA LA QUE SE VEÍA, POR LA MUCHA CERRAZÓN. SE MANDÓ ECHAR EL ANCLA AL AGUA Y OTRAS DILIGENCIAS PARA SACAR EL NAVIO, LO QUE SE LOGRÓ. EN ESTE INTERMEDIO DE CUANDO EN CUANDO LA MAREJADA TOCABA EL NAVÍO Y A NOSOTROS NOS ARRANCABA EL CORAZÓN DE DOLOR. (EL NAVÍO HACÍA MUCHO AGUA Y NO PODÍAN ACHICARLA, ASÍ QUE FUE EL BUZO A RECONOCERLO. ESTABA CASI DESCLAVADA LA TABLA PRINCIPAL DE LA APARADURA DE LA QUILLA. ERA IMPOSIBLE SEGUIR EL DESTINO Y EL NAVÍO SE PERDIÓ TOTALMENTE. SACARON VÍVERES, PÓLVORA Y ARMAS Y TODO LO QUE PUDIERON Y SE FUERON A LA PLAYA, CON MUCHAS DIFICULTADES POR LO BRAVO DEL MAR. DURANTE MUCHOS DÍAS ESTUVIERON CONSTRUYENDO UNA EMBARCACIÓN Y TRATANDO CON LOS INDIOS LOCALES)

Wind directiondddegWind direction (from which the wind is blowing) in whole degrees from: 1-360; 361 = calm, 362 = variable. It is not clear from many logbook entries whether the wind direction has been corrected for the magnetic variation (or declination). To avoid any misunderstanding, all winds from reports that included a valid position in the period 1750-1854 were corrected. All other wind directions are given without being corrected.
Wind speedffm/scalculated from the descriptive terms of wind force given in the observations
