Comment:
AGE follows the GICC05 time scale. To estimate changes of d18Osw of the sea surface and upper thermocline water, we used paired G. ruber and P. obliquiloculata Mg/Ca temperatures and stable isotopes and calculated the d18Osw using the equation of Bemis et al. (1998, doi:10.1029/98PA00070). The ice volume effect was corrected using the benthic d18Osw from the same core.
