Objective The studies carried out during the 1st FAEGAS mission (1973) showed the importance of sedimentation phenomena in the deep waters of the North-East Atlantic. The influence of two factors was particularly highlighted: deep currents as vectors of material, recent or still active volcanism as a source of material. The FAEGAS II mission was particularly aimed at locating these sources and specifying the timing of the emplacement of the materials from them according to the currents created by climate fluctuations.
