MERIAN cruise MSM132 offshore Catania (Italy) to Heraklion (Greece) in the Mediterranean Sea. Data were acquired between 06 December 2024 and 01 January 2025. The PARASOUND system was operated continuously to acoustically image the shallow subsurface and sedimentary structures beneath the seafloor along the cruise track. However, the PARASOUND system was temporarily deactivated during station work, resulting in minor gaps in the otherwise continuous record. During MSM132, the PARASOUND system was operated with primary frequencies 18 kHz and 22 kHz. The resulting secondary frequencies are 4 kHz and 40 kHz. For sediment penetration, the secondary low frequency is of particular interest. The Parasound system emitted a rectangular frequency modulated single pulse. The transmitted beam width was set to 4.5° at 80 V. Receiver amplification was set to TVG Automatic at 20 dB, resulting in a gain of 35 dB for PHF and 32 dB for SLF. The sound velocity was manually set to 1500 m/s. The acquired sub-bottom profiler data were written as ASD, PS3 and SGY files. <br/>The dataset comprises the complete raw sediment echosounder record collected during MSM132 and is provided without further scientific interpretation or post-processing.</description></descriptions><geoLocations><geoLocation><geoLocationBox><westBoundLongitude>25.212068</westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude>26.164215</eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude>36.245688</southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude>36.883757</northBoundLatitude></geoLocationBox></geoLocation></geoLocations><fundingReferences><fundingReference><funderName>Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung</funderName><funderIdentifier funderIdentifierType="Crossref Funder ID">https://doi.org/10.13039/501100002347</funderIdentifier><awardNumber awardURI="https://foerderportal.bund.de/foekat/jsp/SucheAction.do?actionMode=view&amp;fkz=03F0952A">03F0952A</awardNumber><awardTitle>DAM mareXtreme - MULTI-MAREX, GEOMAR</awardTitle></fundingReference></fundingReferences></resource>
