Merian during the MSM141/2 transit cruise from Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) to Las Palmas (Canary Islands, Spain). The survey took place from 09.12.2025 – 22.12.2025. Data was collected from 11.12.2025 until 17.12.2025 outside the exclusive economic zones. The hull-mounted parametric sub-bottom profiler Atlas Parasound P70 was used used to gather information about the water column and to profile the sub-bottom of the ocean. In order to do so, the instrument was operated with a primary high frequency (PHF) of 18 kHz and a secondary low frequency (SLF) of 4 kHz. While the PHF was used to record the water column, the SLF was used to record the sub-bottom. The data was logged using the software Atlas Parastore and stored in raw .ASD files. During the acquisition the sub-bottom profiler was monitored and settings as well as filters adjusted according to the prevailing environment. A Multibeam Echosounder and an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler were operated in parallel. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. The acquisition of the data was done by the HafenCity University Hamburg.</description></descriptions><geoLocations><geoLocation><geoLocationBox><westBoundLongitude>-35.025437</westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude>-22.686757</eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude>-17.215439</southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude>11.575237</northBoundLatitude></geoLocationBox></geoLocation></geoLocations></resource>
