Merian expedition MSM93 from 28 June to 26 July 2020. Water samples were collected from CTD Niskin bottles at five to six different depths from the upper 100 m at CTD stations and from underway sampling. Between 0.4 to 3.5 L of each seawater sample was filtered through Whatman GF/F filters. The sample filters were then shock‐frozen in liquid N2 and kept at −80 °C until analysis. High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was performed to quantify various phytoplankton pigments (see Table 1 in Taylor et al. 2011) following the method of Barlow et al. (1997) that was adjusted to our temperature‐controlled instruments as detailed in Álvarez et al. (2022). Data were used to analyse the Fram Strait phytoplankton community composition dynamics in Xi et al. (submitted to GBC) and contributing to an Panarctic Ocean pigment collection (Heidemann et al. 2026).</description></descriptions><geoLocations><geoLocation><geoLocationBox><westBoundLongitude>-21.22647</westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude>10.32453</eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude>63.04035</southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude>79.64939</northBoundLatitude></geoLocationBox></geoLocation><geoLocation><geoLocationPlace>North Greenland Sea</geoLocationPlace></geoLocation><geoLocation><geoLocationPlace>Norwegian Sea</geoLocationPlace></geoLocation><geoLocation><geoLocationPlace>Atlantic</geoLocationPlace></geoLocation></geoLocations><fundingReferences><fundingReference><funderName>European Commission</funderName><funderIdentifier funderIdentifierType="Crossref Funder ID">https://doi.org/10.13039/501100000780</funderIdentifier><awardNumber>23138L03D-COP-INNO SCI-9000</awardNumber><awardTitle>Copernicus Marine – Innovation Service Evolution R&amp;D Project ML-PhyTAO</awardTitle></fundingReference><fundingReference><funderName>German Research Foundation</funderName><funderIdentifier funderIdentifierType="Crossref Funder ID">https://doi.org/10.13039/501100001659</funderIdentifier><awardNumber awardURI="https://gepris.dfg.de/project/268020496">268020496</awardNumber><awardTitle>TRR 172: ArctiC Amplification: Climate Relevant Atmospheric and SurfaCe Processes, and Feedback Mechanisms</awardTitle></fundingReference></fundingReferences></resource>
