The shipborne sea surface height (SSH) data were derived from onboard Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) observations. The SSH values provided in this dataset are 1-hour smoothed shipborne GNSS-derived SSH along the ship track. They were obtained by processing the GNSS-derived positions and applying vessel-related corrections. Each record includes time, latitude, longitude, and SSH. The time is given as day-of-year (DOY) pf 2016. Latitude and longitude are given in decimal degrees, and SSH is given in meters. The GNSS data were collected by a GNSS receiver on R/V Lance. The vessel was used by the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI) for regular monitoring and research related to ocean and sea ice properties in the Fram Strait. During the Fram Strait 2016 cruise from DOY 238 to DOY 257, a geodetic JAVAD TR_G3TH GNSS receiver was installed on the ship bow. The receiver collected multi-GNSS observations at a sampling rate of 1 Hz, including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. In addition, 1-Hz attitude data used for the SSH attitude correction were recorded by a Kongsberg Seapath inertial sensor. ** For all details see the full metadata description at "https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.995662"!
