documents a sampling of the remains of the battleship Tirpitz from World War II, which was sunk by the Royal Air Force on November 12, 1944, off the island of Håkøya, which belongs to Tromsø, in Sandnessundet, Norway, and was scrapped on site until the 1950s. Since many non-recyclable remains were left on site, there is a suspicion that the wreck could be a source of pollution for the local marine environment. Sampling was carried out on May 31 and June 1 2025 by divers using polypropylene bags and bottles (1 L), as well as with a remote-controlled crawler with an integrated water and sediment sampling system. Water, sediment, and mussel samples were taken. Water samples were where extracted  by solid phase extraction on site, mussels were opened to allow the respiratory water to drain out and frozen on site at -18 °C. Sediments were also frozen on site at -18 °C. All samples remained frozen until processing in the laboratory.
