<md:abstract>This dataset consists of Mg isotopic composition and Mg/Ca ratios of three cold-water bamboo corals from the South China Sea. The samples were collected at a water depth below 1000 m where the seawater temperature is around 3 ℃. The analyses of Mg isotope were performed on multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and the elemental composition was tested on laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The dataset is aimed at tracing the Mg isotope fractionation pattern and Mg elemental incorporation into the cold-water bamboo coral skeleton.</md:abstract>
