Abstract:
Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected using the ship's own SIMRAD EM122 multibeam echosounder during the RV METEOR cruise M149 (Monitoring Mud Volcanoes and Faults). The cruise took place between 2018-07-24 and 2018-08-24 (Las Palmas, Spain – Cadiz, Spain). The cruise aimed to obtain records of the past and current tectonic activity in the Gulf of Cadiz and Alboran Sea (West Mediterranean Sea). Bathymetry data were collected to gain new high resolution bathymetry data, to determine locations for MeBo drilling and gravity coring, and to search for mud volcanoes. Additionally, sound velocity profiles (SVP) were updated once a week using CTD stations. SVP data are integrated into the raw .all files. The data are archived at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, BSH) and provided to PANGAEA database for data curation and publication. Data are unprocessed and therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts). Data can be processed e.g. with the open source software package MB-System (Caress, D. W., and D. N. Chayes, MB-System: Mapping the Seafloor, http://www.mbari.org/products/research-software/mb-system/, 2022).
