Abstract:
Radio-echo sounding (RES) data from Jutulstraumen Glacier in western Dronning Maud Land (East Antarctica recorded with the Alfred Wegener Institutes multi-channel ultra-wideband (AWI UWB) radar system in the Austral summer season 2018/19. The survey region is centered on the initiation zone of accelerating ice flow (~ 5 to 50 meters per year) at the onset of the Jutulstraumen Ice Stream, located within the Jutulstraumen drainage basin in western Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica. This region marks the a transition from the thick ice sheet of the central plateau to the dynamic convergent ice flow regime leading through the Jutulstraumen Graben, which ultimately feeds into the Fimbul Ice Shelf. The UWB profiles at the Jutulstraumen Ice Stream are organized into two distinct sets, each aligned approximately perpendicular to ice flow and spaced at intervals of 7.5 km. Moreover, this dataset includes UWB profiles south of Sør Rondane Mountains in eastern Dronning Maud Land. The data was mainly recorded in a frequency range between 180-210 MHz and is SAR processed but single profiles south of Sør Rondane Mountains were recorded in frequency ranges of 320-350 and 150-520 MHz, respectively. The data are available for both data products (qlook: unfocused; standard: SAR focused) as netCDF files (including waveforms and metadata), KML files of the profile line locations, and quicklook images of the radargrams.
