Abstract:
This dataset includes the analysis of sediment core DSDP 517 (30°56.81'S, 38°02.47'W, 2963 m water depth) recovered from the Rio Grande Rise within the modern day North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW). The dataset contains measurements of radiogenic Neodymium (Nd) isotope composition and Rare Earth Element (REE) concentrations of authigenic (mixed planktic foraminifera and non decarbonated bulk sediment leachates) and totally dissolved residual silicate (detrital) fraction. The Nd isotope measurements were made on the Neptune Plus High-Resolution Multi Collector ICP-MS and the Nu Plasma 3 MC-ICPMS and the REE concentrations were measured on the Agilent 7500ce ICP-MS. The dataset also includes benthic foraminiferal stable oxygen and carbon isotopes measured on Cibicidoides Wuellerstorfi using a ThermoScientific MAT 253 mass spectrometer. The dataset provides insights into the variability of NADW in the South Atlantic Ocean over the last 150,000 years.
