Abstract:
We conducted EMI measurements along the Konyaaltı Beach in Antalya (Tükiye) on the 6th of March 2023. The EMI survey simultaneously collected two different types of data at multiple depth levels. An electromagnetic signal, transmitted into the ground, returns two signals, the Quadrature data (linked to the apparent electrical conductivity) and the In Phase data which is proportional to apparent magnetic susceptibility. The measurements were carried out with the GF Instruments CMD-Explorer (dipole centre distance: 1.48 m, 2.82 m and 4.49 m). The measuring device was attached to the operator and measurements were performed at walking speed at 10 Hz sampling frequency (~15 cm spacing between measurements). We collected two parallel profiles along Konyaaltı Beach, which were measured with two constant distances to the waterline (~15 m and ~45 m distance from the waterline). Anthropogenic constructions such as beach pavilions seem to influence the measurements along the upper profile while the profile closer to the waterline appears error-free.
