Abstract:
Here we present dissolved oxygen estimates from benthic foraminiferal assemblage data in discrete samples from ODP site 883. Benthic faunal assemblage data from Dowsett and Ishman (1995) were used to calculate dissolved oxygen using the enhanced benthic foraminiferal oxygen index of Kranner et al. (2022). Species and genera were classified as oxic, suboxic, or hypoxic indicators based on the Kranner et al. (2022) classification scheme. Where species counted by Dowsett and Ishman (1995) were not classified by Kranner et al. (2022) but other members of the same genera were, the classification of those catalogued species was used. Where genera counted by Dowsett and Ishman (1992) were not classified by Kranner et al. (2022) (e.g., Globoscassidulina subglobosa and Laticarinina pauperata), the classifications assigned by Kaiho et al. (1994) were used.
