Abstract:
Sediments were sampled at 2 cm intervals (0.5 g) to quantify sediment particle size in a laser diffraction particle size analyzer (SHIMADZU SALD 2101) at the Laboratory of Coastal Dynamics - Federal University of Pará (UFPA). Hydrogen peroxide and ultrasonic bath were applied to eliminate organic matter and disaggregate sediments. The sediment fractions were classified as sand (2 mm – 62.5 µm), silt (62.5 - 3.9 µm), and clay (3.9 - 0.12 µm) (Wentworth, 1922).
