A shallow sediment core GeoB21367-1 was collected with a gravity corer from the region of the Sartori Mud Volcano in the Calabrian accretionary prism during cruise POS499 with R/V POSEIDON. Site GeoB21367-1 was positioned outside the mud volcano near its northwestern rim. In order to determine C/N values (organic C/total N), as well as contents of total carbon, inorganic carbon and organic carbon, sediment samples were taken from the core with cut-off syringes and transferred into glass vials. The sediment samples were analyzed with a vario EL III elemental analyzer (Elementar Analysensysteme GmbH). Contents of organic carbon were determined after removal of inorganic carbon through acidification. ** For all details see the full metadata description at "https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.964997"!
