Abstract:

The dataset reports the position of available seismic profiles along the Sardinia island continental shelf (western Mediterranean). The dataset includes very high-resolution seismic lines which were collected using a Chirp Benthos operating at 2.5-7 kHz, during several oceanographic cruises in the years 2009-2017. Data were mainly acquired by the chirp sub bottom device hull-mounted in the r/v Urania and Minerva 1 of the Italian National Research Council. Lines located in shallow coastal areas were collected with the pole-mounted transducer on small boats. During the same cruises, high resolution seismic lines were collected using a Sparker source operating at 0.5-1.0 kJ. Sediment data include grain size data of sediments sample along nine sediment cores, which were collected in the coastal plain of the Gulf of Oristano (western Sardinia).
