Abstract:
Temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and fluorescence data were gathered in the Bay of Sept-Îles during the Spring and Summer in 2017, as part of the Canadian Healthy Oceans Network (CHONe II) program. These were profiles were collected during 5 separate campaigns (2 in May, 2 in June, and 1 in September) at 21 stations in the bay and archipelago. On two occasions (late June and September), repeated passages were also conducted at the mouth of the bay, between the port of Sept-Îles and Pointe à la Marmite during one semidiurnal tide cycle (12 h). Although other measurements were collected continuously, CTD data were gathered once every three passages at the beginning, middle, and end of the passage. The data were collected from the local fishing vessel Yvan-Raymond using a Seabird electronics SBE 19plus CTD probe.

Description
-----------
These profiles were gathered using a Seabird electronics 19plus CTD probe. Sensors recorded the following parameters:
* temperature (degrees Celsius)
* salinity (practical salinity units)
* depth (meters)
* chlorophyll concentration (mg / m^3)
* dissolved oxygen (ml / l)
* turbidity (nephelometric turbidity units)
The profiles were gathered at the same 21 stations five times from spring to fall of 2017. Profiles were also collected at three stations at the mouth of the bay while conducting repeated passages during one semidiurnal tidal cycle. This was done in June and in September.
Processing
----------
Data should be viewed as raw. Only basic quality were done on depth, temperature and salinity. Water colder than -1.8 or warmer than 40 degrees Celsius were marked as bad. Water with salinity less than 10 PSU were marked as questionable, since this is a coastal area. Negative depths were also marked as bad.
The flag meanings are as follows:
* 0: raw
* 1: good
* 3: questionable
* 4: bad
* 5: modified
* 9: missing
Users should apply their own quality checking methods particularly if using the oxygen, fluorescence and turbidity data; these have been subjected to no quality control.
Users should also remove the probe warmup time by looking at the depth of each cast, and make a choice about using the upcast, downcast or both.
No positions were logged by the CTD. The positions in this dataset are the nominal coordinates given to the ship's captain and where stops for sampling were requested.
