Abstract:
In this study we sought to distinguish between direct and indirect effects of subtidal green-lipped mussels (Perna canaliculus) on carbon cycling, and combined published literature with in-situ experiments from restored beds to create a carbon budget for New Zealand's shellfish restoration efforts. Data set includes information on mussel growth rates and shell lengths (biogenic calcification), respiration rates (metabolism), and carbon measurements in mussel bed sediments (Biodeposit data, ROMA plate data, and Sediment Core Data. All data collected between 2017 and 2021 from restored, subtidal beds (~10m depth).
