Abstract:
Two bottom mounted pressure wave gauges were deployed at the West coast of Sylt as part of the WaveDiss2016 field experiment to study wave transformation in the surf zone. The sensors measured the absolute pressure at the sea floor in 10 Hz, which can be used to estimate the surface elevation timeseries and derive surface wave quantities, e.g. wave height, period or wave shape. The sensors were mounted on a concrete plate and were deployed manually at low tide. On recovery, the sensors were immersed into the sand by about 30 cm. One sensor provided data from Sep 27, 2016 until Sep 30, the second one until Oct 6.
