Abstract:
The lithogenic fractions >63 µm and >150 µm were separated through wet-sieving. Five (30.5 – 680.5 cm) or 10 g (680.5 – 910.5 cm) of freeze-dried sediment was used for analysis. Organic matter was removed through loss-on-ignition by heating the samples in a muffle furnace at 750 °C for four hours. Inorganic carbon and biogenic silica were removed with acetic acid (5 mL, 100%) and boiling NaOH (5 mL, 2N), respectively. Results are presented in dry weight percentages.
