Abstract:
The dataset contains temperature, salinity, oxygen saturation, chlorophyll a and turbidity data from the Helgoland MarGate underwater observatory from the year 2020 in a temporal resolution of 1 hour. The cabled observatory is located in 10m water depth and comprises single or multiple sensors for a specific parameter (see https://www.awi.de/en/science/biosciences/shelf-sea-system-ecology/main-research-focus/cosyna/underwater-node-helgoland.html). MOSES_2020_Elbe-NorthSea * Abstract: The Elbe has a significant impact on the southern North Sea (German Bight), transporting nutrients, pollutants, organic matter and algae from inland waters to the coast. To better understand these land-sea connections, particularly during flood and low-flow events, researchers launched the Elbe-NorthSea 2020 campaign within the MOSES initiative. For the first time, a single water body was tracked almost continuously from the Czech border to the German Bight using a Lagrangian observation approach. A chain of research vessels and coordinated sensor systems recorded how river-borne substances are transported and transformed along the course.
