Samples were obtained at 2 cm intervals for the upper 20 cm of sediment through centrifugation and filtration through 0.2 µm polycarbonate syringe filters for trace metal analyses. The goal of this was to assess trace metal concentrations in pore waters and spatial heterogeneity.
