Abstract:
We analysed a 6 year time series of displacement maps from Sentinel-1 SAR interferometry in the upstream region of Dronning Maud Lands Jutulstraumen Glacier (Antarctica). Our results reveal short-term cascade-like events of subsidence and uplift of the ice surface, which we interpret as drainage and filling of subglacial water pockets. This indicates a periodic transport of subglacial water through an interconnected drainage system. The water re-location events in this study are located in a slow flowing region 225~km upstream of the grounding line. An examination of high-resolution ultra-wideband radar data and the hydropotential gradient reveals that subglacial water is moving downstream along a canyon-like system of local valleys.

Comment:
Here we provide:
1. outlines of the areas of subsidence and uplift, which represent the locations of active subglacial lakes D, E and F (see Figure 1 in the publication connected to this data set).
* the outlines are provided as shapefiles (polygons)
* Filename: JG_interferometry_lake_outlines.shp
* CRS: EPSG:3031.
2. a csv file containing the lake center coordinates (JG_lake_coordinates)
3. processed ICESat-2 tracks intersecting with the lake outlines (ICE_a and ICE_b in the manuscript; see Figure 2 for details). The data is stored in csv files and archived in ICESat-2_tracks.zip.
* ICE_a track specification: RGT 0732 - GT3l
* ICE_b track specification: RGT 1235 - GT1r
