Comment:
We used a Carlo Erba Elemental Analyzer (1108) to get concentrations of the total carbon (TC) and total nitrogen (TN). Subsequently, we used a CO2 Coulometer (CM5014) to determine the total inorganic carbon (TIC) content. The total organic carbon (TOC) concentration was calculated from the difference between the TC and TIC contents.
